Technical drawings or wiring diagrams are not showing
Summary
Section titled “Summary”Technical drawings can come back blank for several different reasons, and four of them look almost identical on screen. This article matches what you are seeing to what is actually wrong, tells you whether anything was charged, and says who can fix it.
If the Technical diagrams card is not on the page at all, that is a different problem. Skip to the last section.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- You tried to open technical drawings and got a blank panel or a message instead.
- To change a permission or top up credits you need to be the account owner. Anyone can work out which problem it is.
Match the message
Section titled “Match the message”Read the heading on the panel. Find it in this table.
| What you see | What it means | What to do | Charged? |
|---|---|---|---|
| ”This vehicle is not identified yet” | The vehicle has no Haynes Pro identity pinned to it. | Identify it on the vehicle record, then try again. Identifying is free. | No |
| ”No technical drawings for this vehicle” | Haynes Pro genuinely holds none for this vehicle type. | Nothing to fix. This is rare. In a sample of 2,291 vehicle types, one had none. | No |
| ”Technical drawings are not part of this subscription” | Your garage’s Haynes Pro account is not licensed for drawings. | Contact us. It is an account-level change, not something you can switch on. | No |
| ”Technical diagrams are not switched on” | Haynes Pro data is not enabled for your garage at all. | Contact us. Repair times and service schedules will not be working either. | No |
| ”You do not have access to technical diagrams” | Your account is missing the AI data access permission. | Ask your account owner to grant it. See Roles and permissions. | No |
| ”Diagrams could not be loaded” | Haynes Pro could not be reached. | Try again. This is almost always temporary. | No |
| ”Diagrams cannot be opened”, with a line about not enough credits | Your balance is below the cost of a lookup. | Top up. See What happens when credits run out. | No |
| ”Diagrams cannot be opened”, with a line about AI and data features being paused | AI and data features are paused on the account. | The account owner needs to deal with the billing side. | No |
| ”The lookup window for this vehicle has closed” | The window lapsed while you had the drawings open. | Select Reopen. That opens a fresh window and costs 20 credits. | Yes, if you reopen |
| ”Some sections could not be shown for this vehicle” | Part of what Haynes Pro holds could not be returned. | Carry on. Everything shown below the message is complete and correct. | Already charged |
| ”Your session has ended” | You were signed out, usually in another browser tab. | Sign back in, then open the drawings again. | No |
| ”This job is no longer available” | The work order the drawings were opened from has gone. | Close the dialog and open it again from the job. | No |
| ”This drawing could not be shown” | One image failed to load. The rest of the list is fine. | Try again, or open that drawing in its own tab. | Already charged |
| ”This wiring diagram could not be shown” | The same thing on the wiring side. One circuit image failed. | Try again, or pick another circuit. | Already charged |
| ”We could not confirm this vehicle’s wiring” | Haynes Pro returned no wiring for this car. This is not the same as the car having none. We cannot tell those two apart, so we say so rather than guess. | Try again next time a diagram window is open on that car. Tell us if you know the vehicle should have wiring. | Already charged |
| ”Wiring diagrams have not been loaded for this vehicle” | The wiring list was not fetched this time round. | It is tried again the next time a diagram window is opened on the vehicle. | Already charged |
| ”This vehicle has more wiring circuits than we can list here” | A small number of vehicles hold more circuits than the list can load. | What is shown is real. Search the circuit by name rather than scrolling. | Already charged |
| ”That wiring diagram could not be loaded” | The circuit was in the list but would not open. | Choose it again, or pick another circuit. | Already charged |
| ”This account does not have access to wiring diagrams” | Your Haynes Pro account is licensed for drawings but not wiring. | Contact whoever manages your Haynes Pro subscription. No circuit in the list will open, so there is nothing to retry. | No |
| ”No circuit matches that” | Your search matched no circuit name. | The search reads circuit names only, never models or years. Try a shorter word, or clear it. | Already charged |
The one that is easy to misread
Section titled “The one that is easy to misread”“We could not confirm this vehicle’s wiring” does not mean the vehicle has no wiring diagrams.
It means Haynes Pro returned nothing, and from our side a genuine absence and a failed read look exactly the same. Saying “this car has none” would be a claim we cannot stand behind, so the product says the honest thing instead. Torqueflow tries again the next time a diagram window is opened on that car.
Worth knowing before you go hunting: how much wiring a manufacturer holds varies enormously between makes. A car with a full set of drawings can still have very little wiring, and that is the manufacturer’s data rather than anything your garage or Torqueflow controls.
A circuit you expected is missing from the list
Section titled “A circuit you expected is missing from the list”That is usually the registration-year filter rather than a fault. Manufacturers split circuits at build dates, and if the car’s recorded date falls on the wrong side of a split, the row is filtered out.
- Select Show all wiring diagrams, or remove the year chip.
- If it is still missing, shorten the search.
windowfinds more thanpassenger window switch. - Check the badges. Left-hand-drive rows are marked LHD and left in the list deliberately. If the only rows are LHD, the manufacturer holds no right-hand-drive version of that circuit.
Tell the four blank panels apart
Section titled “Tell the four blank panels apart”Four of these render as a plain panel with a short line of text and look much the same at a glance:
- “This vehicle is not identified yet” is the only one you can fix yourself in under a minute. Go and identify the vehicle.
- “No technical drawings for this vehicle” means the data does not exist. Nothing is broken.
- “Technical drawings are not part of this subscription” and “Technical diagrams are not switched on” are both account-level. Neither is the user’s fault and neither costs anything.
If you are relaying this to us, quote the heading exactly. The headings are the fastest way to tell which of the four it is.
Check whether you were charged
Section titled “Check whether you were charged”Nothing is ever deducted without you pressing Open diagrams first. Every failure above happens either before the charge or after it has already succeeded, so a blank panel does not mean money quietly disappeared.
If you want to confirm, the account owner can check the credit balance on Settings > Billing.
The card is not there at all
Section titled “The card is not there at all”If there is no Technical diagrams button anywhere on the vehicle, the work order or the job card, one of two things is true.
- Your account does not have the AI data access permission. It is hidden, not greyed out. Ask your account owner.
- Haynes Pro data is not enabled for your garage. In that case repair-time and service lookups are missing too. Contact us.
Expected Outcome
Section titled “Expected Outcome”- You know which of the blank states you have.
- You know whether it is yours to fix, your owner’s, or ours.
- You know no credits went missing.
- Identifying a vehicle is always free. If the fix is “identify it first”, it costs nothing to follow.
- A lookup on a vehicle covers every Haynes Pro lookup on that car for a short window, so retrying after a transient failure inside the window does not cost again.
- Drawings and wiring share one lookup. Opening the Wiring tab after the Drawings tab on the same car costs nothing extra.
